Our trip to Utah

The beautiful cabin!

Zion

We went for a week to our friend Marianne's cabin in Strawberry Point, Utah. It was wonderful-off the grid! No cell phone service, no Internet and no TV!! We did many walks, ATV rides (thanks Kari Ann and Tyler), reading and even fit in a trip to Zion. All of us loved it and had a hard time heading home to the extreme heat in Vegas.

Phoenix trip!

We had a good visit with Mom and Dad as well as some of Shawn's friends. It was great to see them and we sure came while it was hot. The high was 117 degrees!! Mom has moved to a group home close to Dad and is doing much better physically. She still doesn't have short term memory but is very happy. We brought her home to Mom and Dad's house for Father's Day brunch. It was nice to have her there but she didn't know it was her house. It was great for Prescott and Alex to the visit the pool everyday to escape the heat a bit! We headed back to Las Vegas through Prescott, Arizona which Prescott really enjoyed.

The Marriott in Vegas!

My friend helped upgrade us to a 2 bedroom suite!! Thanks Lisa!
The kids spent the day with us at the pool and then we sent them to a friend. Thanks Audrey!! We were able to enjoy the spa since my kindergarten class gave me a gift certificate from there for the end of the year. Alex and I enjoyed the alone time and beautiful view of the strip. The kids came back the next day and we even got a late checkout so we could have more time at the awesome hotel!

Happy 10th year anniversary!

June 6, 2008
Alex, the kids and I were to go to Maui, Hawaii for 2 weeks in June for our 10 year anniversary. We spent our honeymoon in Maui and went for our 5 year anniversary there on a cruise. We had a condo set up but our flight on ATA was cancelled. We couldn't rebook a flight so we didn't get to go. Alex had the time off from work already so we did a few things...stayed at the Marriott in Vegas, went to Phoenix and went to a cabin in Utah. Not the same as Maui but we still enjoyed spending time together as a family.

Hoover Dam

Another birthday surprise was Alex getting a week off of work to spend with Susan. They took Prescott to the Hoover Dam one day.

Alex turned 40 on May 21st!! We surprised him with a visit from his sister Susan who lives in North Carolina. He loved it. We also had a surprise party for him at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was great!

Update on my brother Jim

Hi friends-
Wow, what a month, make sure you visit my website
www.jimculveyhouse.com as my dear brother in law Alex made a lot of neat changes. There’s a short video of my life, pictures from the golf tournament and my honor by the National MDA-ALS National Division as one of the 31 people (one per day) they picked from across the country of about 35,000 people, that are fighting with their disease by doing something to help the cure for the cause during May which is ALS Awareness Month. As you’ll see on the site May 13, 2008 will always be known as Jim Culveyhouse day.

There is also a medical update from Melanie. Enjoy the sunshine it’s finally coming!
