Mom

She has moved to a nursing home but still isn't doing that great. She can't walk (without assistance), can't talk (is trying though) and goes to physical therapy. Mom has a feeding tube also. Some days she is alert and some days she is sleepy. At least the nursing home is closer for my dad to visit her. I think it will be a slow journey.

Update on Mom

The Phoenix trip was good to see Dad and help him with things at home. He has enough food for a while and Aubree sure loves her Papa. Mom had up and down days. I was able to look at a few nursing homes and figured out the best place for her to go after the hospital. Yesterday (3/19), they decided she isn't ready for a nursing home and will possibly put in a shunt to relieve some of the fluid/pressure. She has started therapy (PT, OT and speech) and has even stood out of bed (with assistance). It's going to be a long road and appreciate all the love and support.

My mom Rita

She (77) fell last Thursday (3/6) and had brain surgery Friday to stop the bleeding. She has been in ICU since then. Mom had to have another brain surgery yesterday where they drilled a hole in her brain to relieve pressure. It's been up and down...My dad (86) is handling it ok...I went last weekend with Alex and the kids. Aubree and I are leaving tomorrow to visit.

Thanks for the love and support!

The staples are out!!

On February 8th, Alex complained of stomach pain. Well, it got worse so he went to the doctor who sent him to the ER for a CAT scan. It showed what we thought...he needed to have his appendix removed. It was perforated so he needed to stay in the hospital for 3 days for IV antibiotics. That was rough for all of us...we sure missed Alex around the house!!! Not only all of the chores that he does but he is my rock. The care in the hospital wasn't the best (tried to give him the WRONG medicine, changed his ID tag to a 61 year old female, sat in vomit for over 5 minutes...I could go on) so it was tough managing the house, taking/picking up Prescott from preschool, getting Aubree naps in and spending as much time with Alex as possible. This past Friday we all went to his appointment with the surgeon and were happy to see the staples removed!!! Alex returns to work Monday after being gone for 2 weeks. We are very grateful for all of our family and friends that showed concern, made meals for us, watched the kids, visited Alex in the hospital, etc!!! It really makes you evaluate your life and realize those that support you in times of need. THANK YOU!!!!
